London Marathon 2025 for Sue Ryder

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
I’ve always fancied the challenge of running a marathon and at the age of 50 it was about time to give it a go. The London Marathon closing date for entries was Wednesday 26th April 2024, which poignantly was three years to the day since my amazing Mum lost her battle with cancer.
I tentatively filled out the application form. I wasn’t too confident of winning a place but crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. To my surprise a couple of months later I received a call congratulating me on securing a place to run on behalf of the Sue Ryder Charity in the London Marathon. As the realisation of running 26.2 miles set in ‘Holy Mo Farrah’ I thought, I best start training.
It was a massive relief to know that my Mum received the best love and support when she was under the care of Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice. I know my Dad who was struggling with ill heath himself and who also sadly passed away a few weeks after my Mum, found it a huge comfort to know she was being so well cared for.
I’m looking forward to completing this challenge in memory of my Mum and Dad. It’s an absolute privilege to be able to represent and raise money for Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice at the 2025 TCS London Marathon.
Please, if you can donate to my fundraising efforts so the incredible people at Sue Ryder can continue to provide the remarkable end of life care and the support they offer to friends, family of loved ones when it’s needed the most.
Thanks for your generous support.
Lots of love,
Joel.
