James Hopkins Trust provides care & support for Gloucestershire's life limited and life threatened young children. Our free nursing respite can be day or night in the family home or at our multi-sensory respite centre and gardens called Kites Corner. We are here to create special, lasting memories.

Story

In Maverick’s memory my close friend Joely and I will complete a 25k part of the Cotswold way walk on the 27th June 2025 to raise funds for the invaluable respite care provided by JHT.

Maverick touched the hearts of everyone he met. He was my whole world ‘my main man’ my bestest friend, a Pets as Therapy dog, working Gundog and work companion. Sadly Mavy was taken too early after being diagnosed very suddenly with a rare aggressive cancer at only 5 years old. He not only bettered my life and everyone he met but he also bettered me as a person. He was a once in a lifetime special dog, who was always by my side.

Mavy and I were planning on doing fundraising for JHT together where we have been regularly visiting for the last few years for PAT. The smiles and joy it brought to the children and staff are priceless memories we will cherish forever.

James Hopkins Trust provides care and support for Gloucestershire’s families and their young children who are life limited or life threatened.

Some parents will know their baby has a condition that will cause severe disability or shorten their life before they are born, other babies will be diagnosed soon after birth or in early childhood. Often no-one can tell you how long your child will live, only that they need constant care. James Hopkins Trust exists to help these children and their families.

We will post our progression as we walk thinking of the fun Mavy would be having.
