Virtual Lands End to John o’Groats

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

I will be taking part in the Virtual John O'Groats to Lands End event, to raise awareness for the Alzheimer's Society.

Sadly, every year many families are affected one way or another by this disease and one of those families was mine. Sadly, we lost my Nan, Margaret Whittingham and my Grandad, Pat Murphy. Both of them were brilliant characters and I'll be thinking of them throughout when the going gets tough!

The challenge is to complete 874 miles/1406.57km (we'll round it up to 1407 to avoid my basic maths issues).

Through a combination of:

- Hitting the tarmac in my Brooks.

- Walking locally in Preston, including zig zag walks on Penwortham Golf Club if the weather ever improves.

- Hiking around the Lake District.

- Cycling the Guild Wheel (once I own a bike).

I've signed up via End to End Run - endtoend.run from today 19/02/2024. The events target is one year from now, but I'm aiming to complete this much sooner (TBC).

Any donations are always massively appreciated!
