Story

This week marked the start of my training to a 1:45:00 half marathon! On Sunday 1st October I will be running the Rugby Half Marathon and it’s a family affair as my two brothers will be joining me at the start line! I am putting myself through a tough 16 week training program in the hope of raising money for my son Ronnie’s ongoing therapy needs!

It’s been a while since our last fundraiser and we need YOUR help again to ensure #RemarkableRonnie can continue to access private therapy. We’re hoping for a spot at the new NAPA Center in London but it does not come cheap. They recommend Ronnie enrols for 3 weeks of intensive therapy including physio, SALT and OT! Their reputation speaks for itself and we have already employed some techniques that would be available to him and have seen some great results in improving Ronnie’s dexterity!

We started fundraising over 3 years ago and since then, family, friends, colleagues, old friends and people we don’t know all came together to help our little boy! However Ronnie’s treatment is a lifelong mission for us and the bigger he gets, the harder life will become for him! Will you give a thought to helping us again?

A little about our hero…

Ronnie is a remarkable 5 year old from Rugby who has multiple disabilities including cerebral palsy, epilepsy and dysphagia. He is also registered blind!

He loves going to school, riding his trike and walking his miniature poodle, Rusty!  His little brother, Ralph is chimp-esque and climbs all over him much to Ronnie’s dismay! Ronnie really enjoys a packet of Cheetoes and has a liking for Peppa Pig and Justin Fletcher! Ronnie is known for his beautiful blonde curly locks!

Ronnie’s weekly private therapy includes physio with an incredible paediatric physiotherapist, hippotherapy (physio on horseback- a very small pony 😁) and swimming! We have lots of therapy booked over the summer including intensive physio weeks, an in-depth visual assessment in and we’re heading back to Swimlab International again next year for more aqua therapy!

It’s absolutely imperative that Ronnie continues to access private therapy and build on what he has achieved in the last couple of years! He suffered a big step back with progress late last year due to big seizures but has worked really hard to regain that strength!

YOUR support has been immeasurable and we are so thankful for everyone’s love for our #Remarkable son! We endeavour to guide our little boy to a greater level of strength and independence!

Life is really tough for Ronnie! Still, our plucky five year old continues to smile in the face of adversity! Please help us to help Ronnie on his long-standing journey!

All funds raised are protected and held by Just4Children who pay invoices direct to companies on our behalf! Also, the running total on Ronnie’s master page is not a reflection of monies available but the total amount raised to date! Hundreds of pounds are paid out every week to cover Ronnie’s private therapy and since we haven’t fundraised for a while, the pot is rapidly diminishing! That’s why we’re asking for your generosity again! 💚

Thank you.
