As night falls on what has been a beautiful Sunday, I'll be lacing up my running shoes again to raise money for my #Remarkable son, Ronnie. This isn't just about crossing the finish line or a PB; it's about empowering my son, and ensuring his journey knows no bounds.
Ronnie, my brave and resilient little boy, faces challenges that most kids twice his age couldn't even imagine. Born 3 months early and diagnosed with multiple disabilities including quadriplegic cerebral palsy, epilepsy and blindness, he refuses to let it define him. His kind soul lifts you up, his giggles echo, and his eyes twinkle with warmth.
I've set myself another challenge: to run the Coventry half marathon at the end of April in a quicker time than my 1h45mins Rugby Half from October and raise funds for a new specially adapted trike. Every step I take, every mile I conquer, will bring us closer to that goal. Ronnie’s current trike is amazing despite buying it second hand. Sadly though, he’s outgrown it (crazy long legs) and has been too big for it for some time.
We purchased the trike as an unknown and we weren’t sure whether he’d take to it but boy does he love it! Just picture the joy on Ronnie's face as he experiences the exhilarating freedom of riding a bike, the sense of liberation as he pedals away, feeling the wind through his curly locks. Your support isn't just a donation; it's a lifeline to us as a family and a symbol of hope for Ronnie.
With your generosity, we can provide Ronnie with the gift of mobility, independence, and the chance to exploring the world on his terms. Join me again on our journey, one stride at a time.
Thank you for being a part of Ronnie's story. Your continued kindness, compassion, and belief in his potential mean more than words can express. Our goal is as his parents is to ensure that Ronnie's journey knows no limits – because every child deserves the chance to pedal off into the sunset!
Let's run for wheels and make Ronnie's cycling dreams come true!
