Story
My name is Joey and this is my story
At just 24 hours old, my baby sister Sophia was diagnosed with a heart condition called Pulmonary Stenosis. Following a stay on the neonatal ward at Worcester Hospital, she was transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital, in preparation for heart surgery to open up the faulty valve in her heart.
Whilst at BCH, I visited Sophia and discovered what a wonderful place BCH was. The staff were so kind, helpful and cared for not only my baby sister, but for myself, Mummy and Daddy. The surgery was successful and the doctors were able to fix Sophia's heart so that she could come home. She will continue to be a patient of BCH until she becomes an adult, and it will be where she will likely have surgery when she is a teenager, to replace the faulty valve in her heart.
On Sunday 5th May, I will be running 1.5km in the Mini Great Birmingham Run, to raise pennies for BCH and the amazing work that they do. I love running and I can't think of a better way to help the people and the place that are fixing my baby sister's heart.
Please donate as much or as little as you want, and please only donate if you are able to. You are also welcome to join us on the day to cheer me on, I will make sure to wave as we come running past!
Thank you
Joey
