Story
Alex Daives the father of a student at the school took part in research at the Manchester Cancer Research Centre exploring if tear fluid could be used to identify glioblastoma - the most aggressive form of brain tumor.
Alex made the selfless decision to join the project after being diagnosed with this type of cancer and told that he only had 12-18 months to live.
He unfortunately lost his battle on his 50th birthday. We as a school staff have entered this race to raise awareness and celebrate Alex's memory by raising money for ongoing research into this form of cancer.
Staff are participating in a 10K night run around Rivington, this is a unique event as it is done in darkness with the trails lit by headtorches. This is a very challenging event as the course includes over 1000ft of elevation over the rough moorland around Rivington.
The school would appreciate if people could donate as much as possible, if each member of the school community donated £1 we could raise over £1000.
