We support The Rifles & its antecedent regiments, including via The Rifles Benevolent Trust, charity No: 1119071, which incorporates Care for Casualties & the Always a Rifleman Programme. Together the Trusts support all serving Riflemen & veterans, with the AARP meeting mental health needs.
Story
Help get a cyclist off the road — for a good cause
Would you like to “get another cyclist off the road”? No, not in the violent sense. I’m offering a much more constructive solution: help me cycle from John o’ Groats to Land’s End in just 8 days and turn all that road-based frustration into something worthwhile.
That’s around 874 miles in total — roughly 109 miles (176 km) every day.
We’re taking on this challenge to raise money for two important UK causes: the Always a Rifleman Programme (AARP) and the Mental Health Foundation.
The Always a Rifleman Programme (AARP) provides support and resources for veterans and their families. It recognises that the challenges associated with military service can continue long after leaving the Armed Forces, and aims to help veterans and their loved ones access practical support, build resilience and maintain a sense of connection and community.
The Mental Health Foundation is a leading UK mental health charity working to prevent mental health problems and help people enjoy better mental health. Through research, education, advocacy and practical resources, it works to improve understanding of mental health and promote prevention — helping people get the knowledge and support they need before problems reach crisis point.
Both causes matter to us because mental health affects individuals, families and communities, and the right support at the right time can make a real difference.
So, if you’ve ever shouted at a cyclist, been held up by a cyclist, or simply thought “there are far too many of them on the roads” — here’s your chance to do something about it.
Sponsor me to get one cyclist off the road.
Your donation will help support the work of the Always a Rifleman Programme (AARP) and the Mental Health Foundation, while giving me a very good reason to spend eight days suffering on a bicycle.
874 miles. 8 days. Two worthwhile causes. One very tired cyclist.
Every donation, however large or small, is hugely appreciated and will help support these organisations in the work they do.
Thank you for your support — and please consider sharing the page if you can.
By donating to this page you are donating to the AARP only. Please visit the main group page and choose another charity if you wish.
