Great Western Run · 26 May 2024 ·

We are fundraising for the University of Plymouth's Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry. Just one medical discovery can touch millions of lives. We award funding to vital research equipment and support the healthcare professionals of tomorrow.

Story

This run is for Tory Wren RIP. Her parents have been raising money for PMF and have kindly agreed to use the money to fund the Parkinson's Disease project. This is assessing the use of kinetic wrist bands to monitor PD patients and provide timely intervention when things are deteriorating. It has the potential of being rolled out to other centres if it is shown to work.

PMF awards funding to vital research equipment for the Derriford Research Facility; PHD studentships to sustain and grow medical research teams; bursaries and prizes to support the training of future medical professionals, and an investment fund, providing a sustainable solution to future research and education.
