Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Whilst the worlds spotlights shine on the tragic daily events of Gaza and Ukraine. Lest we not forget the tragic effects of war, in other places. That's why I am supporting the Awareness Foundation for the second and final, leg of my "Camino" walk.

The route of the Portugeuse Camino starts in Lisbon and finishes approx 380 miles (620kms), later, in Spain, at Santiago de Compostela. Back in the Spring I walked, on my own, the Southern half from Lisbon to Porto. On the 7th September 2025 I will set out to pick up where I left off, at Porto and attempt to complete it, hopefully arriving two weeks later at the Cathedral in Santiago. I believe this leg will be more hilly.

The people and communities of Syria have been shattered by years of sectarian violence. Many elements of the country’s infrastructure have been destroyed, and relations between faiths have been poisoned by the religious nature of much of the violence. Many have left their homes, never to return. Like Gaza, Ukraine and other wars, innocent children become tragic victims.

For those who remain, what future can they hope for? In Syria, thousands of Christian children have been taken by their families away from their homes and from everything they knew to a few, relatively ‘safe’ areas. These children are trying to make a new life in their new homes. But they are scared, they have lost hope and they see no future for themselves.​

These children need our help. So far, the Awareness Foundation, a Charity I know the work of, has helped over 3,470 of Syria's children and distributed 9,450 gifts to them.

I fully support the great work that my friends Nadim, Huda, and others in the Charity are doing through their "Little Heroes" programme on helping to mend and develop these children's well-being, self-esteem, resilience, and emotional and mental health.

Giving them back some of their lost childhood;

Planting the seeds of love, trust and hope in them;

Helping them to build bridges within their community; and

Empowering them to overcome the great troubles they have faced.
