Story

Our Story

Anne and John's chosen charity is Don’s Local Action Group (DLAG) which is an engaged, dynamic, and resilient volunteer charity dedicated to helping people in our local community to fight poverty across three key focus areas: food, household goods and digital devices across Merton, Kingston, and Wandsworth boroughs.

We gained insight into how the charity works, by volunteering during the pandemic - John on the collection of computers from donations to delivery to schools (after the tech guys worked their magic) and Anne on the shopping and foodstuffs side. It was amazing to see how DLAG provided a direct, personalised, efficient, and friendly service to those who need it most and saw first-hand the hope and connection that it created within our community. You never forget those moments.

Wimbledon has always had a special space in our hearts having met at the FA cup final in 1988 and this trek and fundraising is our way of trying to raise awareness and funds to ensure DLAG can continue to make a step-change to people’s lives.

We will be paying for our own trip, so 100% of the sponsorship/funds raised will go directly to DLAG.

The Great Wall of China Trek will take us on different parts of the wall, across wild and remote landscapes and ascending and descending very, very many steps!!!!

Any donation is greatly appreciated.
