Story
I am riding from London to Brighton this year in support of St George’s Hospital Tooting.
Not a local hospital to me, St George’s was where the ambulance headed after Dan, my lodger, found me unconscious in the garden after suffering a stroke in July 2024. I was operated on straight away to remove a blood clot from my brain.
Dan, the paramedics and St George’s saved my life.
I am forever grateful to the staff at St Georges, where I was operated on and stayed for a couple of days, and at the Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington where I spent the next week recovering (asleep apart from meals and visitors!) and being helped to get myself working again. They told me to expect a two-year recovery period and I’m very grateful to be on the other side and amazed at the progress. Thanks to family and friends and thank you to the NHS.
This is most definitely my charity of the moment!
