Story
Many of my colleagues will know of the passing of Kevin Solley at a very young age, caused by sepsis, leaving an equally young family. What you may not know is that every year in the UK, sepsis kills at least 48,000 people, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together.
After a bit of a break I will be cycling, with Friends of Enable (a group of people touched by sepsis) from Bristol to Bath via the Two Tunnels route in support of UK Sepsis Trust on 11th September 2024, just before World Sepsis Day. I'm hoping the weather will be better this year - last time it rained almost all day, but we are all waterproof underneath so it really doesn't matter.
This is an inclusive event: experienced and less-experienced cyclists will be covering different distances - mine should be about 50 miles. It is being coordinated by lawyers from Enable Law (who regularly act for sepsis survivors) joined by friends and colleagues from different areas of life and work. UK Sepsis Trust is an impressive charity which has made a real difference in promoting early recognition and good management of sepsis. With better awareness thousands of lives could be saved. Many survivors face life-long disability.
Thank you for your support and donations which will make a difference.
