Our work is founded on the early identification and support for perinatal mental health difficulties is critical. The right support makes a difference, not just to mothers but to the healthy emotional development of their babies. Dedicated to removing barriers that prevent women seeking help.

Story

In March 2025 I will be running the Brighton Half-Marathon for the second time, and I will be doing so to help raise money for MumsAid, a UK based charity providing pregnant women and new mums with specialist counselling for emotional or mental health difficulties.

I have several friends, colleagues and family members who have recently welcomed a newborn into the world, and am so excited to become an uncle for the first time this year, with my sister and brother-in-law expecting.

All of those close to me have had the amazing support of loved ones whilst pregnant and during the first few months of motherhood, and I want to ensure this same support is provided to mothers up and down the country.

An estimated 20% of women develop perinatal mental health problems during pregnancy and the first year after having a baby, whilst 1 in 8 new mums are embarrassed to admit their true feelings due to the stigma surrounding perinatal mental health.

MumsAid help support over 250 mothers and their families with maternal mental health every year by offering free counselling, specialist therapeutic, befriending, advocacy and group support, free creche facilities if needed, specialist Trauma therapy and more.

By making any form of donation, you will be helping to fund these facilities and services, to ensure mothers and parents across the UK have access to any support they need.
