Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page!
In 2010 while working in the Middle East I was told by my GP after my annual check-up that I had an enlarged Prostate and should keep a regular check on it.
Of course like a lot of men I forgot about it until 11 years later when I decided to have it checked. The doctor examined me and arranged a blood test. This showed a high PSA level and arranged for me to have further tests.
The biopsy and scans revealed that I had prostate cancer. Fortunately it had not spread outside of the prostate.
My wife and I discussed the various types of surgery and agreed that I would have it removed.
I had the operation at Pinderfields Hospital in February 2022, and recovered quite quickly.
The staff, surgical team and aftercare at Pinderfields were fantastic. They have called me every 3 months since to check that everything is OK.
So I am now looking forward to raise some funds to help research and treatment.
Prostate Cancer Research are dedicated to creating brand new prostate cancer treatments. Prostate cancer is now the most diagnosed cancer in the UK and 11,500 men die from the disease every year. People affected by prostate cancer need breakthrough treatments, and research is the only way to turn this hope into reality.
Their vision is clear; a world where people are free from the impact of prostate cancer. I’m part of #TeamPCR because I share this vision. Will you help me support their research?
