Story
I am raising both awareness and money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association by running the Abingdon Marathon in October 2024.
I continue to dedicate a great deal of my time to growing the sport of rugby league in Oxfordshire, in doing so, I have always talked about players such as Rob Burrow to the youngsters I have coached over the years. Rugby league is one of the toughest sports to play for anyone, it takes great courage to step out into that field and those that have had the opportunity to do so will tell you that when you do, those that are by your side immediately become family.
You also respect those that play the game at all levels, those you see playing the game at the highest level become sporting heroes and role models for youngsters growing up playing the game. Then there are people like Rob Burrow, one of the greatest to have played the game in this country and one of the most courageous men both on and off the field.
I am choosing to run this marathon in memory of Rob Burrow, to raise awareness of MND, to raise funds for the Rob Burrow Centre and to help find a cure for this cruel disease.
In a world full of adversity, we must dare to dream
