Story
Myself, Joe and Mark are taking part in the loch Lomond go swim 1500 metres event this year for bowel Cancer UK.
Hopefully by doing this we can help raise awareness about how important early detection is and that no one is ever too young to be diagnosed with bowel Cancer.
In 2021 I found out the hard way that a Cancer diagnosis can happen to anyone, at any time and this is why the 3 of us want to raise awareness.
Anyone who has any changes to their bowel habits etc should always seek a doctor's opinion and if the symptoms still persist then ask for a second opinion.
This might just save your life and this is exactly what happened to me.
We know our bodies better than anyone else.
Sometimes it's up to us to tell our doctors exactly what we think may be wrong and there's no point in being embarrassed about it as the doctors see this every day.
Any changes, get checked out!
In Scotland bowel Cancer is the 3rd most common Cancer, although with early detection there is a really good chance of survival and this is why it's so important to have any changes in bowel habits etc checked out as soon as possible.
If anyone can spare any money for this charity then that would be great but all 3 of us agree that the message here about getting checked is more important.
We’re the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity.
We fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.
We’re here to stop people dying of bowel cancer.
