10,000 STEPS A DAY FOR 7 DAYS, FINISHING WITH A WALK FROM HASTINGS RNLI TO EASTBOURNE RNLI · 23 February 2025

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

In the month of February 2025, the 17th onwards to be precise I will be undertaking a sponsored walk for 7 days culminating in a trek/saunter/walk from Hastings Lifeboat station to Eastbourne Lifeboat Station (on the waterfront, not Sovereign Harbor by the lock). In the six days previous, it is my target to walk ten thousand (10,000, roughly 5 miles) steps every day.

The recipient charities for this endeavor will be Dementia UK, and the RNLI, splitting the proceeds equally between the two. The reasons for these two charities are quite simple. I have proudly worked for the RNLI for over two years now as a Face-to-Face Fundraiser in the Southeast region. The RNLI receive no money from Government sources, maintaining a reliance on people in the street to contribute. The second charity is for my dad who has, in the last few months been diagnosed with Vascular Dementia, the inclusion for this charity needs no explanation.
