East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme (EMICS) are a group of volunteer doctors who at the request of the regional ambulance service attend major medical incidents. That can range from a life threatening medical condition to a serious road crash. They bring with them very high levels of medical skills more akin to a resus department in a hospital A&E unit. They are totally self funding, and provide an essential service to everyone living in or passing through the East Midlands area. You can find out full details of them on their web page emics.org.uk
