I'd like to let you know about HI Friends, a local charity in Histon and Impington.
As well running a Wellbeing Team in our village supporting all ages , they also run a crucial mini-bus service to help many isolated people in our village with shopping runs and transport to activities and services. Additionally village groups and organisations use the minibus. There are around 20 volunteer drivers of which I am one.
Recently the charity revived a grant came from the SCDC Net Zero Villages Grant Scheme to buy a new electric mini bus, see pictures below.
But the grant did not cover all the necessary infrastructure costs including:
• Charger and connecting cabling
• Secure storage box for seats
• Security Bollard
• Resurfacing on the driveway where the vehicle is parked
In total about £12k.
I took up running with Couch25k in 2019 and completed a 5k fundraiser for Blue Smile in 2020.
So now it's time to break out the running shoes for HI Friends and try and raise the £12k, by running 10k this time, please could I ask you to be as generous as possible for this amazing charity.
