John is Riding to the Sun for Richmond's Hope

John Harfield is raising money for Richmond's hope

Ride to the Sun · 20 June 2026

Richmond's Hope supports children & young people from Edinburgh, Midlothian, Fife, East Lothian, Glasgow & surrounding areas who have been bereaved. We provide children with a safe place to work out their grief through verbal/non verbal ways and provide individual programmes of care for each child.

Story

On Saturday June 20th, I’ll be taking part in Ride to the Sun — a 100-mile overnight cycle from Carlisle to Cramond. While usually I'd be enjoying a peaceful Father’s Day morning in bed, I’ll be somewhere on the England-Scotland border in the dark questioning my life choices on a bicycle. I'll be starting at about 8pm, and finishing at... who knows.

I’m taking on the challenge to raise money for Richmond’s Hope — an incredible charity that has helped, and continues to help, my children.

Richmond’s Hope supports children and young people who have experienced bereavement, giving them a safe, supportive space to work through grief and difficult times. You can read more about the amazing work they do here: richmondshope.org.uk

If you’re able to donate anything at all, I’d be hugely grateful. Thanks so much for supporting a brilliant cause.
