Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.

In August 2023 my world changed forever when I lost my beautiful wife Julie Hatton. Julie was diagnosed with MND in January 2023 and died in August 2023, just 212 days later. Halton Haven Hospice (in Runcorn, Cheshire) looked after Julie during her final few weeks. The hospice is a place I will forever hold close to my heart. The care and love they showed Julie was incredible. To raise money for Halton Haven Hospice I have organised a charity walk from Cardinal Newman College in Preston to Carmel College in St. Helens, a distance of just over 26 miles. Carmel College is the place I sat my A-levels back in 1988 and the place where I started my teaching career, whilst Cardinal Newman College is the place where I spent my happiest working years as a teacher and manager of A-level Maths.

The walk is scheduled for Saturday 14th June 2025, leaving Newman College at 8am. I will have some incredible support on the day with a number of teachers I worked with at Newman College walking with me. If anyone else wishes to join us for this challenge, then please feel free to get in touch. Alternatively, come and wave us off in the morning or be there to welcome us home at the other end. Remember the purpose of the day is to raise as much money as we can for Halton Haven Hospice, so any donations will be hugely appreciated.
