John's fundraiser for Global Action Nepal (GAN)

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
I’m running the London Marathon this year. Yes, you read that right. Me. Running. A full 26.2 miles.
Why? Well, partly because I’m turning 50 and apparently this is what a midlife crisis looks like when you don’t trust yourself to ride a motorbike. And partly because I’m raising money for Global Action Nepal, an incredible charity that helps improve education and health for underprivileged children in Nepal.
Twenty years ago, for my 30th birthday, I visited Nepal to climb Island Peak, a 6,165 meter mountain in the Himalayas. It was a formidable challenge, pushing me to my limits and leaving me with unforgettable memories of an incredible country. Now, two decades later, it feels fitting to take on another physical challenge—running a marathon—and in the process to do something positive for Nepal.
But don’t worry – you’re not paying for me to do something I enjoy. I am not a natural runner. I run like a labrador on an ice rink. But if I’m willing to suffer through months of aching legs and bleeding nipples (yes, really), then surely you could spare a few quid to support a fantastic cause?
Every donation helps make a real difference. Plus, the more you give, the more pressure I’ll feel to actually finish this thing. It’s a win-win.
