Story
Seashell Trust is a national charity based in Greater Manchester that supports children and young adults with the most complex learning disabilities, . Through its specialist school, college, residential care, and therapy services, Seashell helps individuals develop independence, communication skills, and confidence, enabling them to live safe, creative, and fulfilling lives
Money raised funds vital facilities, therapies, and inclusive activities that cannot be covered by statutory funding. Donations help provide specialist equipment, respite care for families, and state-of-the-art learning environments. Every contribution ensures that children and young people with complex disabilities receive the best possible education, care, and opportunities to thrive.
Following a visit to Seashell, I was invited to take part in Strictly Seashell and was very convincingly, and enthusiastically - persuaded by my friends at Boodles to say yes! Last year I completed an Arctic Trek for charity so swapping winter boots for dancing shoes felt like a sensible decision at the time.
I’m always keen to push myself outside any comfort zone, especially when it helps support young people with disabilities to access opportunities they truly deserve. Statutory funding simply doesn’t stretch far enough to cover essential facilities, therapies, specialist equipment and enriching activities, meaning the charity must raise around £2 million each year. Your generosity will play a vital part in transforming young lives and I’m hugely grateful for any support you can give.
