On the morning of 13th July 2023, Jamie was involved in a serious road traffic accident just North of Nottingham. He fractured his temporal lobe, cracked his skull base and suffered multiple bleeds on the brain. The Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance delivered the trauma consultant who stapled Jamie's head and put him into a medically induced coma at the roadside. They then airlifted him to the Queens Medical Centre Hospital in Nottingham. He was in a coma for 3 days before moving from ICU to the Neuro Ward and eventually walking out of hospital unaided, 15 days after arriving. Jamie is still receiving post hospital medical care but the reality is that had it not been for the air ambulance crew or the incredible medical staff who cared for him, this story could have had a very different ending. Jamie is strong (and young!) and recognises how lucky he is to have been able to access the services who ultimately saved his life and wants to give back to the Air Ambulance who are completely self funded. Therefore as a father and son team, we have decided to trek Mount Kilimanjaro to raise much needed funds for the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance Service.
We have set an audacious fundraising target but are confident we will hit it with the generosity of family and friends!! So please give whatever you can afford to this amazing charity and service so they can carry on the life saving work they perform every day of the year.
