John

On Sunday 21st June, I will be cycling the iconic 54-mile ride from London to Brighton, supported by my great friend, bandmate and brother-in-law Sam, to raise money for Diabetes UK.

Diabetes UK funds world-class research to improve the lives of those with diabetes. My recent switch from finger-prick blood testing to constant glucose monitoring (the white sensor on my arm) has made a huge difference to my quality of life and this is my way of giving something back.

Any size of donation would mean a huge deal to me and, in return, I promise that you will never have to see me wear Lycra.

Sam

It’s been a privilege to have John as a friend and brother-in-law for so many years now and supporting this charity, which has such a personal connection to him, is the very least thing I can do.

Having a young boy myself and knowing John was diagnosed type 1 diabetic aged 7 and all the challenges he has faced his whole life has given me the impetus to commit and train. Any support you give us will be very welcome, and I’m certain if we reach our threshold, I’ll be able to convince John to ride in a full Lycra onesie. Let’s make this happen.
