Story

Dear Friends

At my advanced years, this could well be my last charity event, even though I am part of the support team. The days are long and we are sleeping on rugby club floors or on a chair on the ferry. All the money goes to the research as we pay our own way for the entire event, petrol, ferries, food etc.

I also understand that I am always coming to the same friends and family to donate each event I am involved with but if you can spare only £10, I will be most grateful and if not, thank you for your support in the past.

Further details of the event are below and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate in contacting me.

John

Doddies Grand Slam Team (DGS) is a Team setup in 2022 - It was created by Co-Captains and Ex SRU President Ian Barr and Rob Boyns - Doddie Aid Team Wales Cycle Captain.

The Team includes Ex-Scotland and Lions Roger Baird as our Ambassador and Michael Farquar - who keeps us in check with his Project management and Enthusiasm.

We also have ex-Scottish Winger Ivan Tukalo in the Team who lights the room up with his infectious energy.

Our next adventure in March 2026 takes us all around Britain and Ireland with a Team of 26 - 16 Riders and 10 support. All Monies raised go to Research

The Team and its family of members have over the years raised over £500,000 to fight the cruel disease that is Motor Neurone Disease or ALS as it is known in America.

The Late Doddie Weir who passed in 2023 from MND has been our Inspiration and our Team is Succesful - because we have a 4 "E" Ethos which is Endurance, Engagement, Education and Enjoyment.

Our "E"thos is widely recognised and over the years we have visited Many Countries on

our Bike adventures including UK and Ireland, France, Monaco, Italy and Australia!

We have visited countless Rugby Clubs, Dozens of Schools and talked to Thousands of School Children with the Goal or Inspiring them to be future

scholars, Sports People of just good citizens that see the benefits of contributing to Society.

If you can Help us, Help the Researchers, Help fight this Cruel Disease then with the advent of Quantum Computing and AI your sponsorship will help crack the Code.

Many thanks in advance for your kind generosity - DGS Team
