A close golfing friend of mine sadly suffered a stroke in August 2023. After becoming Club Captain this year after more than 25 years as a member of Belton Woods, choosing the Stroke Association as my Captains charity for the year was an easy decision.

Unfortunately 1 in 5 women and 1 in 6 men will have a stroke during their lifetime and sadly 1 in 4 of all strokes occurs in people of working age. Life changes instantly and recovery is challenging, however the brain can adapt and many people make a good recovery. With more donations the Stroke Association can fund research, support stroke survivors and help rebuild lives.

I will post updates and fund raising events during the year, but thank you all for your support during my Captains year, it means a great deal. I hope to play with as many members as possible and wish you all a very happy and successful golfing year.
