Story
On May 12th I am cycling the annual Fred Whitton Challenge in the Lake District. The route is a 112 mile circuit of The Lakes taking in every recognized Lakeland Pass - with a total climb of 12,000ft.
At 90 miles, cyclist face the Hardknott Pass, with a maximum gradient of 33%.
"The Fred" is an iconic event and generally recognized as the UK's hardest cycling sportive.
