Over the next couple of weeks, I plan to cycle from Land's End to John o' Groats in a bid to raise money for pancreatic cancer research, while also responding to my urge to mark my 50th birthday and ensuing midlife crisis!

As the start date approaches, I must confess to feeling a little anxious, as this will be the biggest physical challenge I've taken on. However, I'm going to give it my best shot.
