At Live PAWS, we believe that all dogs deserve a safe and loving home. Our story began with a vision to create a shelter for homeless dogs and has grown thanks to the generosity of volunteers and supporters like you. Join us and be part of the change

Story

On New Years Day 2025 early in the morning a young man passed away in a tragic car accident, when travelling home with friends. His name was William Herbert, he was 16. He was from my village, went to my schools, my clubs and my college and in all these communities and the many others that he graced his presence with all felt his loss.

So I decided to take the luxury I have been given to help raise money for a charity that was close to his heart by taking part in the pilgrims walk and pray to the black Madonna to raise money for dog rescue charities in Europe as one thing he did love was his own.

We are always happy to accept help! There are lots of good reasons for volunteering but perhaps the most persuasive is, quite simply, that voluntary work is rewarding.

If you´re looking for something ‘extra’ in your life, volunteering could be right for you.If you can spare anytime from one hour a fortnight to several hours a week, every little helps. We were formed in 1993 (our official title is Refugio de Los Animales – K9) by three lady residents in the South of Tenerife, who were moved by the plight of the poor and neglected abandoned animals on the island .We currently rent kennels in the Las Chafiras / San Miguel area in the South of Tenerife which are suitable for housing around 55 to 60 dogs comfortably, although most days we have upwards of 75 in our care! Any funds, support and appreciation can massively help the quality of life of the animals in our care, donate now or be a volunteer to see the change we greatly want to achieve.
