Liverymen of the Worshipful Company of Wheelwrights, their friends and relations are cycling the Tour de Vale in aid of WheelPower.

WheelPower, the national charity for wheelchair sport have been providing opportunities for people with physical impairments to take part in sport for over 70 years. Based at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the home of the Paralympic movement, WheelPower is at the heart of wheelchair sport.With your support WheelPower will be able to deliver more life changing opportunities for disabled people, introducing them to the joys of playing sport, and the many benefits that come from a more active lifestyle.2022 saw the return of their flagship events, The National Junior Games and the Inter Spinal Unit Games. It also saw the launch of their Sports Festivals that take place across the country and with your support WheelPower can create more opportunities, and reach even more disabled people - like Lillie.

Two years ago, 15-year-old Lillie was involved in a devastating car accident that resulted in a spinal cord injury. Last year, she registered for her first WheelPower event, the National Junior Games, a multi-sport residential event at Stoke Mandeville Stadium.

The Games provide disabled children with the opportunity to participate in up to 20 different sports and activities.

“Sport is everything to Lillie and she wanted to carry on playing especially basketball, archery and swimming. She can’t go out where we live, as we are quite remote. So there’s nothing for a younger teenager. But sports to Lillie is her life, helping her physical and mental wellbeing. If she wasn’t able to do sports I think you would see a totally different person.

The money we raise by taking part in The Tour de Vale will fund a range of events and programmes that enable disabled children to lead healthier, more active lives.
