Climbing Mt.Kazbek - raising funds for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza

Climbing Mt. Kazbek (Georgia) · 26 July 2024
The impact to ordinary civilians from the war in Gaza is simply horrific.
The UN currently estimates that over 38,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, with well over 50% of this figure being women and children. Over 75% of medical facilities are inoperable, and the restrictions placed by Israel on cross-border humanitarian aid has resulted in famine as well as outbreaks of deadly diseases.
While this crisis may seem far away for some, living in the Middle East has opened my eyes to the brutal reality of what is happening in Gaza. I have Palestinian colleagues and friends who's families are caught up in the war and for whom this whole experience is a living nightmare.
While many remote charities are struggling to get aid into Gaza, the charitable organisation Anera has a team on the ground who are consistently delivering supplies to those who need it most. This is an organisation that I have donated to in the past, and their ongoing work is absolutely crucial to the survival of regular Palestinians.

In an effort to raise donations for this cause I am attempting a mountaineering expedition to summit Mt.Kazbek (Georgia) from 22-27 July. This will be both a technical and physical challenge and which will likely push me to the limits of my (relatively non-existent training).
