Story

Story Update...

This time last year, Adrian and I made the decision to sign up for the Everest Base Camp trek in honour of my Dad. Little did I know how much life would change in the months that followed.

Adrian and I had talked about doing this trek together for years. After successfully completing the Kilimanjaro trek three years ago, we were both determined to take on another challenge together, having made such incredible memories and shared so many laughs on our Kilimanjaro adventure.

We signed up with Evora Hospice in Newry and began fundraising and training for Base Camp, with a goal that meant so much to me personally.

But it is with the heaviest of hearts that I update this JustGiving page today. It has taken me until now to find the strength to put these words together.

My Dad, Davy, sadly passed away in December 2025, and then, in a tragic accident in Wales at the beginning of August, I lost my dear friend Adrian. Between losing my Dad and then Adrian, I have experienced a depth of grief I never could have imagined.

With the blessing of Adrian’s wife, Monica, I have made the decision to carry on with this trek, in honour of both my Dad, Davy, and my brother in all but blood, Adrian.

I set off on 5th November, and after spending some time with Monica and Adrian’s family last night, I finally found a little of the strength I needed to update this page.

Adrian was an amazing friend. He stood by me and helped me through some of the darkest days when my Dad was ill and in the difficult time after he passed away. I will forever be grateful for his friendship, his support and all the memories we shared.

I know this trek will be one of the hardest things I have ever done, both physically and emotionally. But I also know I won't be doing it alone. I have no doubt that my Dad and Adrian will be with me every step of the way, all the way to Everest Base Camp.

This journey is now about so much more than reaching a destination. It is about honouring two very special people who have left an everlasting mark on my life, carrying their memories with me and finding the strength to keep going, even when things feel impossible.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me, my wife Shauneen, and Adrian's family, and all that have donated and encouraged me along the way. Every bit of support means more than you will ever know, and it will help me continue this journey in their memory.

Love you, Brother. You are forever in my heart, and I miss you more than words can ever say.

For Davy and Adrian — this one is for you both. ❤️
