Johnny's fundraiser for My Name'5 Doddie Foundation

Johnny Roberts is raising money for My Name'5 Doddie Foundation

Beaune to Barolo · 10 September 2025

In the past two years, Berry Bros. & Rudd have raised over £600,000 for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation – and are aspiring to raise #£1Million!

Story

You have a one in 300 lifetime chance of developing Motor Neuron Disease (MND). Half of people diagnosed die within 24 months, a third within one year. There is currently no cure.

In 2018, my friend and colleague Davy Zyw was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease —a devastating and incurable condition that gradually robs the body of the ability to move, speak, and eventually breathe.

The strength and determination with which he has faced this cruel illness is nothing short of extraordinary and continues to inspire all who know him. (His latest challenge - attempting to become the first person living with MND to qualify for the British Winter Paralympic Team 2026!) MND is NOT INCURABLE it is UNDERFUNDED.

In support of Davy - and the thousands living with MND now and in the future – a small group of us will take on an epic charity cycle from Beaune in Burgundy to Barolo. This is no holiday – and I’m the old man of the Peloton - it's 600km which takes in some of the Alp's most iconic climbs building to the equivalent of the height of Everest. This is easily the biggest physical challenge I have ever taken part in.

Thanks to the generosity of family and friends since 2024 we have raised over £600,000 to support My Name'5 Doddie Foundation … and we are targeting £1,000,000. Generous support from our friends at Giovanni Rosso means all ride costs are covered so every penny donated goes directly to My Name'5 Doddie Foundation … and my employer, Berry Bros. & Rudd, will match fund donations I receive.

If you would like to support me with a donation, I’d be immensely grateful for anything you can give … I promise to raise a glass in your name in Barolo (😉)

My Name’5 Doddie Foundation are helping fund promising clinical trials across the country. These trials are getting closer and closer to finding a meaningful treatment, and a cure for this life-stripping condition.

Your help in donating and spreading awareness is very much appreciated.
