Story
The 15th of October marks five years since Surgeon Nick Maynard removed Johnny's Oesophagus and a chunk of his stomach and with it, the tumour which was threatening to bring a premature end to his activities on the planet. Thankfully, Nick’s skill, and the care and professionalism of many others has brought Johnny to this 5 year anniversary.
Statistically, only 1 in 5 who have had Oesophageal Cancer make it to year 5, so this milestone warrants a celebration! To that end, Johnny and Max will be running the Cirencester Half Marathon on Sunday 2nd November. We are running on behalf of the Oxford Oesophageal and Stomach Organisation (OOSO), an extraordinary charity which has helped Johnny and his family cope with the issues that come with the cancer journey, from diagnosis, to where we are today.
The last 5 years have been humbling and amazing in equal measure. The support of family, friends, clinicians and of course OOSO has got Johnny to this milestone and we hope that the funds raised will allow the charity to continue their phenomenal support of patients currently suffering with this very specific type of cancer.
Any donations are hugely appreciated and we thank you all for your continued support of this phenomenal charity that has helped our family more than we can explain.
