Story
As many of you will already know, my lovely wife works for Social Link, a local charity helping adults with learning disabilities to experience life to the full without limits or judgement. Laura has been a trooper in securing funding for Social Link, but I wanted to do my bit too. I’m not one to sit back while everybody else does the work – why should this be any different.
Karate is my thing, training a fair few times a week with my daughter. But I thought a half marathon would be a completely new challenge for me. So, I have signed up to the Headcorn Half Marathon in Kent which is taking place on 15th February 2026. No overindulging over Christmas for me as I will be in training for the longest run of my life!
We have worked out that it costs Social Link £50 per person to take their members (all of whom have a learning disability) on a day trip. Last year they went to Woburn Safari Park, I have seen the photos and you can just see what a great time they had. I would therefore like to raise as much money as possible to cover the cost of sending as many Social Link members as possible on their day trip in 2026. My target is £500, so that will cover the cost of 10 members. If I could raise £3750, that would actually cover the cost for all 75 members to go!
Please support me in my challenge to raise money for a great little charity that has a big heart.
p.s. Please let me know if you fancy accompanying me on a training run.
