John's fundraiser for Alabaré

John Wells is raising money for Alabaré
ALABARÉ is a leading UK charity committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness. Founded in 1991 by a Christian community, we are now a lifeline for those experiencing homelessness across the South West of England and Wales, by providing homes, restoring hearts, and empowering minds.

Story

** Update **

I’m delighted to share that both fundraising events – The BIG Sleep at Stonehenge on 14th November and the Wimborne 10 road race on 16th November – have now been successfully completed!

Thank you to everyone who supported these efforts. Your generosity and encouragement mean so much and will make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable people, including veterans, through the incredible work of ALABARÉ.

While for us these challenges lasted only a night or a few miles, for many that are homeless the struggle continues every day. Your donations help provide safe accommodation, vital support, and hope for a brighter future.

If you haven’t yet donated, there’s still time to help us reach our goal – every contribution counts

****

I’m John Wells, and I have the honour of serving as the Mayor of Salisbury this year. My chosen charity is Alabaré.

Alabaré is a UK-based charity that provides life-changing support to vulnerable people, including homeless adults, young people, and military veterans. Their work includes offering safe, supported accommodation, mental health support, and pathways into employment - empowering individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve lasting independence.

To support this vital cause, one of the events I’ll be taking part in is The BIG Sleep at Stonehenge on Friday, 14th November 2025 – which will be dedicated to raising funds for Alabaré’s essential work with veterans. This impactful event not only raises crucial awareness of veteran homelessness but also reminds us how fortunate we are to have a safe place to call home.

The funds raised will go directly towards helping veterans rebuild their confidence, develop new skills, and create brighter, more independent futures. Alabaré’s dedicated homes for veterans across the South, South West, and Wales provide vital support that transforms lives every day.

For us, it’s just one night. In the morning, we’ll return to our warm homes and comfortable beds. For many veterans, that’s still out of reach. Together, we can help change that.

I’ll also be taking part in the Wimborne 10 road race on Sunday 16th November 2025 to raise vital funds for Alabaré. I’ll be running alongside a fantastic team of staff from Downton Primary School and together we’re hoping to make a real difference.

Please consider sponsoring us and supporting this incredible charity - every donation helps change lives.
