Joke's fundraiser for Gairloch Aid & Mobility Support

Joke Lagerman is raising money for Gairloch Aid & Mobility Support
“Great Wilderness Challenge”

on 15 August 2026

Gairloch Aid & Mobility Support SCIO (GAMS) is a charity whose aim is to support people with limited mobility & seniors in the Gairloch, Poolewe and Aultbea area. It is entirely run by volunteers (except accounting). Set up as a project of Gairloch and Loch Ewe Action Forum in March 2015, GAMS became a charity in its own right in December 2016. We work in different fields: • Improving physical and mental wellbeing through provision of Social Outings, Cross Generation Events and a Fall Prevention Class. • Offering loans of mobility and daily living aids enabling people to remain in their own home for longer and to return home earlier, having been in hospital. • Managing a disabled accessible Community Minibus. • Compiling a Directory of Services in the Gairloch & Loch Ewe Area which offers information about support and local facilities.

Story

I was active all my life, doing cross country skiing and walking. I walked several times longer distances in the Great Wilderness Challenge once for GAMS.

Since then I developed Parkinson's disease which impacts on every aspect of my life. Walking is a big challenge as I have regular falls.

Regardless of my physical limitations, I still love walking. I will do the 1.4 miles in the Great Wilderness Challenge (GWC) on the 15th of August 2026.

Please sponsor me so that I can support GAMS. As a small charity they need the funds from the GWC to continue their good work. Please note that they are completely run by volunteers. Every penny you give goes directly towards the seniors. Thank you.
