240km through March - Walk In Her Name 2024 for June, Jan, Naya and Cath

Walk in Her Name 2024 · 1 March 2024 to 31 March 2024 ·
Last year I walked 360km for Walk in her Name and this year I'll be walking another 240km to round it off to 600km over both efforts - which would mean virtually the entire length of the country, from Southampton to Berwick-upon-Tweed - in the name of Beth Mead's mum, June, and other mum's related to the Arsenal Women community including my own, Jan, our beloved miedemastuff's mum, Naya, who recently passed, and my young terminally ill AWFC friend's mum, Cath, who passed a few years back.
With Arsenal & England's Beth Mead as the captain of the 2023 and now 2024 Walk In Her Name campaign for Ovarian Cancer Action, after the loss of her mum, June, we wanted as Arsenal fans and a Supporters Group show some support and to do our part to raise important funds and essential awareness for all the women and families who unfortunately have, or may, suffer from this disease.
I also lost my own mum to bowel cancer 12 years ago this March, aged 55. March was also the month of her birthday, and Mothers Day and just ALL the days!! 🙈
So I will take part in honour of both June Mead and my mum, Jan, and hopefully help contribute in this small way to helping anybody have a better outcome to this disease as soon as possible.
Love to the Mead family and anyone affected,
Joe xo

March is Ovarian Cancer awareness month, and we are coming together to “Walk in her name” and raise money for Ovarian Cancer Action. We will walk 100km from 1st March – 31st March 2024. This is a collective step forward. We walk together, we are not alone; “No Woman Left Behind”.
🔴⚪️Arsenal Women FC supporters have decided to come together to raise awareness and important funds in memory of June Mead. She was a loving wife to Richard and mum to her children and of course saw Beth Mead excel in her career. We all know how proud she was of Beth and how proud she would continue to be of Beth’s strength and resilience during difficult times.
We hope that by raising awareness amongst our fan base, we will highlight symptoms that some may otherwise choose to ignore. We want to support those with Ovarian Cancer to witness the milestones of their own children and families.
Last year we raised nearly £12,000 and would love to do the same again this year. Please support us, in any capacity, by donating, joining us by walking 100km in March or just by sharing. Please follow our journey on social media.
Let June Meads legacy live on.
