Story
Hey everyone,
On May 18th 2025, I, along with thousands of other runners, will be taking part in the Hackney Half Marathon. I’ll be running for the Alzheimer’s Society, which is a charity who work closely with those affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia - something which I know has touched many people’s lives in such a devastating way.
On a personal note, my granny, Joan, suffered with the early stages of dementia in the last few years of her life before passing away in March 2023, just shy of her 91st birthday. I will certainly be thinking of her, and so many others who are affected by this terrible illness, to get me through the run.
As always, no contribution is too small.
Below is some information to help show how far your contribution may go. But above all, THANK YOU for your support.
• £12 pays for a companion call to someone who is feeling alone and isolated. A friendly chat can be a real lifeline.
• £30 pays for two hours of expert guidance from a Dementia Adviser - providing much needed support.
• £50 pays for a half day of research by a PhD student, funding breakthroughs of future development.
“At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.”
