After applying to the London Marathon for many years - and got a great selection of running jackets as a result of being turned down - I finally got a place for this year's run in April. Since I am rapidly approaching 68, my initial reaction was 'Oh Fu-udge!'

However, determined to make it count, I decided I'd try to raise money for Prickles Hedgehog Rescue, a small local charity that has been through some tumult this last year with the loss of their charity shop premises. Being a small charity, they could always do with a bit of a boost anyway. They do tremendous work saving hedgehogs which are under threat of disappearing from our countryside: they should be on the endangered list.
