Jon's fundraiser for Sevenoaks School Foundation

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·
This challenge combines two of the things I feel most passionate about - widening access to education and running!
Having been fortunate enough myself to experience a transformative education as a result of an assisted place, I understand the importance of providing the opportunity for young people from all walks of life to experience an education such as that provided by Sevenoaks School. Education has the power to transform individual lives, but also by extension the lives of families and whole communities. For this to have its greatest impact, diversity of intake is crucial, which hinges on diversity of opportunity. This fundraising supports that cause, which is why I am committed to playing my small part.
It is a happy coincidence that the focal point of the campaign is a running challenge. As a committed runner myself and a pastoral lead, I advocate for the significant benefits which exercise of any kind can bring not only for one’s physical health, but also for one’s mental health and wellbeing. Even when out running on a cold, wet and miserable day, I always try to reflect in the moment on the fact that I am doing something good for myself.
Please give generously to support these fundraising endeavours for future generations of Sevenoaks students, in the knowledge that I will be pushing myself out of my comfort zone (and striving to secure a quick time!) to reflect my commitment to the cause.
Sevenoaks School Foundation raises funds to enable Sevenoaks School to provide a broad and integrated education, an inspiring campus, and financial help to those who need it most.
We are committed to ensuring that equity, diversity and inclusion continue to be at the heart of our culture and community. It is a key priority for the school to significantly increase the number of students receiving financial assistance to one in three students.
