Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Starting on 25th September, I will be taking part in the Trans Pyrenees Race, one of Europe's toughest ultra-endurance cycling events. Covering approximately 1,800km and over 38,000 metres of climbing over 9 days, the route crosses the entire Pyrenees mountain range from Girona to San Sebastian and back. Riders must be completely self-supported, carrying their own equipment, managing sleep, nutrition and navigation, and facing unpredictable mountain weather and long days in the saddle. Completing the race requires physical endurance, mental resilience and determination over many consecutive days of cycling through some of the most spectacular and demanding terrain in Europe.
I am taking on this challenge in support of Alzheimer's Dementia UK, a cause that is deeply personal to me. I am riding in memory of my mum, Margaret Light, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease. Watching someone you love gradually lose their memories, independence and sense of self is incredibly difficult for families and friends. Through this ride, I hope to honour my mum's memory and help raise funds for the vital research, support services and advocacy provided by Alzheimer's Dementia UK. Every donation, no matter how small, will help make a difference to those affected by this devastating condition and bring us closer to a future without Alzheimer's.
