Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Myself and good friend Dave Chopra are taking on the challenge of walking 100km in 24 hours from Corfe Castle to West Bay and would like to raise funds for SHDCS a charity that benefits my amazing nephew Roman directly. Being a deaf/non verbal child presents lots of challenges not least the ability to make friends and communicate with the world around them. SHDCS provide support and get togethers for children and their families bringing together a community of families dealing with hearing loss, this is vitally important to give these children a sense of belonging and the ability to make lifelong friends, I have seen first hand my nephew Roman making friends and thriving around other deaf children allowing him to feel that he is not alone in his hearing loss and to be proud of who he is.
SHDCS also provide grants to help bridge the gap between hearing children and deaf children. These grants can be used to improve the childs learning by removing the struggle of group situations being made 1 to 1.
The days out and get togethers that SHDCS have organised and funded are also invaluable for siblings and parents of deaf children to not only feel part of this community but to be able to meet other families on the same journey and share stories, seek advice or just watch their children enjoy being around others with hearing loss. I know Dave and Debbie have met some wonderful families through these days and look forward to many more so would appreciate any and all donations, we are funding all costs of the event ourselves so 100% of monies raised will go directly to the charity to keep supporting their amazing work. This charity makes such a massive difference, thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any donations ❤️
