Story
On July 12th I will be running up mount Snowdon as part of the XTERRA Snowdon Trail Marathon ERYRI.
"Yr Wyddfa" is the Welsh name for Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales.
The name literally means "the tomb" or "burial mound" in Welsh.
This meaning is linked to a legend that the mountain is the final resting place of the giant Rhita Gawr, who was defeated and buried under the summit cairn - information provided by Perplexity.ai
This will be the most challenging physical activity I have taken on so far with a total distance of 27 miles and 1685 meters of elevation.
I am using it to raise awareness and hopefully some donations for MAPS an organisation that is doing excellent work to help provide effective treatments and cures for mental health disorders such as:
- Treatment Resistant Depression
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Alzheimers disorder,
- Dementia
- Substance Abuse Disorder (such as alcohol, cannabis, opioid, cocaine, and nicotine use disorders).
Their work will make a real difference in the world and I believe it will save thousands, if not millions of people's live in the coming decades.
