Jonathan's fundraiser for Cancer Research UK

Cotswold Classic V2.0 Middle Distance Triathlon · 13 July 2025
Unfortunately on Tuesday my much loved friend Chris Franks lost his long battle with cancer, at the young age of 42. Chris was a great friend not only to me but so many others, and I’m sure that everyone that knew him would agree.
Chris was liked by so many, bringing people together leading group rides and organising meals out to say the least. The amount of friends he had was a testimony to just how much of a likeable character Chris was, whenever i was with him his phone wouldn’t stop buzzing or ringing, and this showed within his time in hospital where there wasn’t enough space for all of his family and friends to be in the room at one time. He was always at the end of the phone night or day for any advice, plenty of daft conversations, and always a good laugh. He was willing to put himself out to help anyone, was certainly one very skilled motorcycle rider, and I feel privileged to have known such a great man.
I am taking part in a Half Ironman next Sunday, the 13th of July, involving a 1.9km swim, 90km cycle and a half marathon. With Chris’s recent passing I would like to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK. This is a charity that works effortlessly to try and stop lives being cut short by cancer, with people having to say goodbye to loved ones far too soon.
Many thanks for any donations.
You’ll always be missed Chris, rest in peace friend.
