Berlin Marathon Done ✅
Royal Parks Half Marathon Done ✅
Many thanks to our many supporters and sponsors - you all made it so worthwhile to complete these challenges ….
I was diagnosed twice with testicular cancer, in 2014 and 2015. My personal experience went from a radical operation within 2 days of diagnosis, to a reoccurrence 1 year later, to aggressive 4-cycle 3 month chemotherapy treatment, to fighting for my life, to surviving, and living under a cloud since.
I’m also a marathoner! I’ve run 34 marathons (29 since my last chemotherapy treatment in 2015). I’m very proud of my 13-year track record of running while raising thousands of pounds that’s gone to help others through worthwhile charitable causes.
I’ve been given a wonderful opportunity on 29th September to run The 50th Jubilee Berlin Marathon with my wife, Lauren, for Orchid, an amazing charity very close to my heart.
“Orchid is the UK’s leading charity for those affected by male cancer. For over 25 years, they have been working to save mens lives from testicular, penile and prostate cancer through a range of support services, education and awareness campaigns, and with a world-class research programme.”
Those on a cancer journey may face psychological and emotional issues, during treatment and for years after. This can include fear of reoccurrence, grief, depression, body image, spirituality, survivors guilt, relationships, and adapting in the workplace. Unfortunately, we all know someone affected by, dealing with, living with, or sadly having passed from male cancers.
Any donation is greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading this donation request and supporting our Berlin Marathon journey fundraising for Orchid.
Jonathan & Lauren xx
NB: UPDATE- we are also running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Orchid Cancer on 13 October- this is under the same fundraising page- HERE !
