Story

Thank you for viewing my fundraising page.

I have been so fortunate to gain a place in the London Marathon in April 2026 through the My Name's Doddie charity in memory of my friend Scott Stewart.

Last year, I lost one of my closest friends, Scott, to Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Scott and I grew up together in Dollar, sharing teenage years filled with sport, laughter, and friendship. I have great memories of us playing as many sports as we could, including Rugby, football, golf, and more. When I look back, he was better than me at all of them. When I told Scott I wanted to run a marathon for a charity of his choice the first thing he did was remind me of his time when he ran the Las Vegas Marathon in his 20s! I think with my sore knee, hip and genuine lack of ability his record will be safe!

His passion for golf was something he really enjoyed and always made time to share that passion with me and help me improve my game, which despite his amazing help never really progressed very far. Our friendship continued into adulthood, and although we didn't see as much of each other as we would have liked we remained very close.

Scott was the most genuine, caring, out-and-out good guy I had the pleasure of calling my mate. If ever I needed help or advice on anything Scott would always be on hand.

When he discovered his MND diagnosis during lockdown he could have wallowed in self pity. That was not him. He faced MND with extraordinary courage and determination. Even as the disease progressed, he poured his energy into fundraising for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting those affected by MND and funding vital research. His efforts raised significant awareness and funds, and he became a beacon of hope and strength for many.

Scott leaves behind his loving wife Robyn and their beautiful daughter Rae, his sister Karen, and his parents Iain and Allison. Their grace and resilience throughout his journey was and continue to be deeply moving. I have been so happy that I have managed to maintain friendship with them and continue in Scott's fundraising efforts.

I’ve created this page to honour Scott’s memory and continue the incredible work he began. Every donation made here will go directly to the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, helping to carry forward Scott’s legacy and make a real difference in the lives of others.

Please give what you can, share this page, and help us keep Scott’s spirit alive.

Thank you for your support.
