Parachute Jump from 15000 feet. · 5 August 2023

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation.

PLEASE SEE UPDATES......Hello Again , For those of you that have followed my page and donated thank you . My charity tandem jump was originally booked to be done on Saturday 30th June. But call it the Great British Weather or Global Warming weather condition, it was considered unsuitable for a 15000 ft jump. The jump has now been cancelled 3 times Once whilst there on site , all suited up, nerves just about shredded. Once about 50 miles away, the last time about 180 miles away. We live 240 miles from the jump site . So it’s a few hours drive to be there , no easy task on our roads. .To be clear it was the experts cancelling the jump, not me chickening out (time yet though🤕🤕).

In an effort to help you understand why I’m doing this, please see my families story below .

If I thought I could predict the future, I would never have thought of this. The 27th September 2021, my family was shaken to its core. As a Big family, I cannot begin to express what we went through. My Only sister, My Mothers only daughter. A Mother and an Aunty to many.

Martina was the only sister to six brothers. The third eldest of seven children. For a small, framed woman she could command the room we all occupied. A mother to her only child Madelaine, our wonderful and beautiful first niece.

Martina was an incredibly caring person, a very empathetic person, her time as a social worker round the UK, in some of the toughest cities certainly put that empathy to good use and tested.

A lover of the Old Black & White movies, animals especially cats, and always loved us, even if we drove her mad, which we probably did. ha ha.

None of us had any idea what was coming, Martina was found by one of her brothers and had passed away suddenly. We are not and will never be sure how long she had been on her own. Martina suffered what was called Ischaemic Heart Disease’ Coronary heart disease (Ischaemic heart disease) - types, causes & symptoms - BHF.

The cliché is , if we can save ONE person. Having lived this, I now know you are not just saving one person, you are saving the pain in a family, an extended family and beyond. If you have it in you to help them and what could be a loved one your next-door neighbour, or the person you just passed on the street, please help them. It has taken us all a long time to get to this We all may never be the same. Some are changed forever. It took me almost a year to get the courage to say her name aloud. I thought I would cry if I said her name.

So here I am facing my fears. I’m not great with heights. I’m going to jump out of a glorified bread bin at 15000 feet on a Tandem Parachute jump, to help raise money for what is a worthy and worthwhile cause helping a family like mine and maybe yours.

We are so excited to have raised over £3000.00 plus. But now that its been put back 3 times , I would love to reach £4000. But I need your help. Please be generous, donate what you feel is affordable to you. That may be £2.00 that may be £200.00. It is appreciated, and I know will be appreciated by a family that gains the support of British Heart Foundation.

My Tandem Jump is Saturday August 5th at Old Sarum Park Salisbury. If you are in the area, watch out because the weather forecast may be brown lumpy rain for about an hour between the hours of 10.00am and 11.00am. Take a brolly and wellies. Thank you for helping, your donations are appreciated.

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.
